Custom Software Development
We Don't Just Build Websites.
We Build Software That Works.
From SaaS platforms to native mobile apps, Twining Original Design has designed, built, and launched 8+ production applications across PHP, Rust, React, Laravel, and more. These are real products built and shipped by the same person who will build yours.
Our Credibility
Before we built apps for clients, we built one for ourselves.
In 2010 — two years before Instacart launched — Todd Twining built and operated igofresh.com, a fully functional PHP/ZenCart grocery delivery e-commerce platform. Real orders. Real inventory. Real customers. It worked, ran for a year, and was retired only because it couldn't scale as a solo operation.
That experience — being on the other side of the checkout button when your site goes down at 8pm on a Friday — is why TOD approaches application development differently. We have built things that had to work. Every project since has benefited from that perspective.
Portfolio
Applications We've Built
Each of these is a production application — built from concept, launched, and used by real people. Not mockups. Not demos.

First Pacific Financial
ActiveReal-time finance flyer generator for real estate agents. Pulls listed property details and generates client-ready flyers showing payment scenarios and financing options specific to that property — saving agents hours per listing.
ExpressYourHeart
ActiveClient-commissioned fortune and tarot card entertainment platform. Users receive personalized readings through an interactive digital experience — custom PHP application development for high-engagement consumer use cases.
Bespeek
BuiltA legacy and final wishes planning platform. Allows users to document and securely store final wishes, legacy letters, and important instructions for loved ones — sensitive content managed with care, privacy, and structured access controls.
EventPeace
BuiltEvent planner booking and management software. Handles client intake, booking workflows, vendor coordination, and event management — built for event professionals who need more control than a spreadsheet offers.
MenuMinion
Retired 2023Built during the pandemic to help restaurants and food trucks take orders without paying DoorDash's 30% commission. A real React PWA used by local businesses — retired in 2023 as major platforms consolidated the market.
ToldUBid
RetiredOnline penny auction platform. Users bid in small increments while racing a countdown clock — each bid resets the timer. Built with real-time auction mechanics, payment processing, anti-fraud bid validation, and a full admin dashboard.
igofresh.com
Retired 2011The original. A fully operational grocery delivery e-commerce platform built in 2010 — before Instacart (2012) or Postmates (2011) existed. Customers ordered groceries online; we picked and delivered. It worked. It was retired because running a logistics operation solo wasn't scalable — not because it failed technically. This is where Todd's e-commerce and application development expertise began: at the intersection of real inventory, real transactions, and real customer expectations.
Technology
We Pick the Right Tool for the Job
Most developers specialize in one or two languages. TOD's app development portfolio spans multiple stacks — because no single framework is the right answer for every problem.
What Do You Need?
Website vs. Web App vs. Mobile App
Not every idea needs an app — and not every problem can be solved by a website. Here's how to think about which is right for you.
Website
You need to establish presence, rank in search, and generate leads. Content is primarily read and browsed, not interacted with at a deep level.
- ✓ Brochure and portfolio sites
- ✓ E-commerce (WooCommerce, Shopify)
- ✓ Local business SEO presence
- ✓ Blogs and content platforms
Starting at $1,500
Web App / SaaS
Users log in, take actions, and get personalized results. The product IS the software — not a website that describes the software.
- ✓ SaaS subscription platforms
- ✓ Business workflow tools
- ✓ Customer and client portals
- ✓ Industry-specific platforms
Starting at $10,000
Native Mobile App
iOS and Android native apps. Required when the device hardware — camera, GPS, push notifications, offline access — is integral to the experience.
- ✓ iOS App Store deployment
- ✓ Android Google Play deployment
- ✓ GPS, camera, hardware integration
- ✓ Offline-capable experiences
Starting at $30,000
Process
Every App Starts With a Conversation
Not a proposal form. Not a template. A real conversation about your idea, your users, and what it will take to build something they'll actually use.
Discovery & Scoping
We define what the application needs to do, who it's for, and what success looks like. We use user story methodology — "As a [user], I want [goal] so that [reason]" — to map requirements before a technology is chosen.
Architecture & Planning
We define the data model, choose the right technology stack for the specific problem, and plan the development phases. No code is written until the blueprint is reviewed and approved.
Development & Milestones
Built in phases with client review at each milestone. You see real progress throughout — not a black box that opens on launch day. Changes are addressed early, not after everything is built.
Testing & Launch
Functional testing, edge case review, and performance validation before anything goes live. Hosted on managed VPS infrastructure for reliability from day one — not shared hosting that slows under traffic.
Why Twining Original Design
What You Won't Get from a Typical Dev Shop
We've Been the Client
Todd built and ran igofresh.com as a real business. He knows what it costs when a critical feature is missing or a checkout fails at the worst possible moment. That perspective shapes every project.
One Person, All the Way Through
No project managers, no handoffs between "the discovery team" and "the dev team." Todd handles the strategy, the code, and the support — always the same person from the first call through launch and beyond.
Business Goals First
With VP-level corporate experience before web development, Todd evaluates every app idea as a business proposition — not just a technical specification. The technology follows the goal, not the other way around.
"The best web expert, business strategist, and collaborative partner ever. I had to fire a string of web programmers and designers until we found Todd."
Scott Jones — Mandina's Cabinets, Redding CA
Have an Idea? Let's Talk About It.
Every application starts with a conversation. No commitment required. We'll tell you honestly whether your idea needs a full app, a simpler web solution, or something in between — and what it will realistically take to build it right.
